We used this machine at work for a year, then it was recalled by the factory — DANGER OF EXPLOSION. That was Feb. 2009. It’s now October 2009, and there’s been no replacement. When I called to inquire about the lengthy delay, the man on the phone said — “no idea when yours might be shipped, we have 1000s of backorders.” Very unprofessional.

  2. Please for those who don’t have this machine sold in your country please dont purchase it. The below was what answer philip senseo had given me. For my first senseo coffee to break down and the second which is replace by amazon which almost exploded. Please for the safety of your family please read.

*******The Senseo coffemakers cannot be used in Singapore. They only work on 120V. We do not recommend to use it with any adapter or converter. Usage of this machine in the worldwide outlet may void the warranty.

I like good coffee and read a lot of reviews, most of them glowing, before buying Senseo. I am not at all satisfied with what I got. I tried a variety of flavors, and none of them gave me the full-bodied coffee taste I savor. In fact, I taste little difference between the various choices. I would not buy this product again.

I’ve had my Senseo for about a year. It was replaced on a recall as well. I have used several different coffee pods in addition to the Senseo brand. I must say this coffee pod maker is definitely no competition or replacement for a cup of hot brewed coffee. The flavor is weak at best even with two pods. The taste reminds me of instant coffee. The coffee is lukewarm when its done. I warm my empty mug in the microwave to try to maintain the coffee temperature once its poured into the mug. I understand Keurig has an updated pod brewer that makes hotter coffee. So lukewarm coffee must be an issue with all pod coffee makers. I brew coffee daily and use my Senseo only when I want a quick cup of coffee without all the fuss.

This is a ridiculously easy way to make one cup of coffee, and with the Amazon “Subscribe and Save” for the coffee pods, I can nearly do this in my sleep. About the only things that can go wrong are: you forget to put in the coffee pod; you forget to put in the coffee pod holder (which makes a huge mess on the counter) or you forget to put in enough water. Other than that, I think my dog could make coffee for me if she could reach the water faucet.

Note: some grocery stores do carry the coffee pods (Ralph’s in SoCal does); but otherwise, its useful to get the monthly delivery.
